Advice on the introduction of 2 family dogs put up for the new baby?
We have 2 Cavalier Kin Charles spaniels. both are 4 and have lived with us for puppies. Our new baby is due in just 4 days and I was wondering if anyone has any advice on the introduction our dogs safe for the baby. We have the basket and bottom, using a doll tried gettin dogs we used to go in and out of the trash. We also have a blanket to wrap baby in nshe EPM is born so we can bring home the smell of dogs before bringing itself his house. Does anyone else have any other suggetions … i do not want the dogs to feel excluded.
You made a good start, you should also try to have a friend or someone from church, work, ect. which has small children. What dogs are around children get used to it. They may not be babies, but at least there will be some similarities. So when the baby comes home, have dogs outdoors or in a locked room. Then when the baby is awake, then he / she is moving and making noise, Daddy has made a dog a time out. Keep the dog in case, and slowly introduce them. It could take all day. You do not just leave them both in the bulk house. Even if the dogs are very friendly, shouting or movement would scare them and they could not nip or bite. Make sure you are very farm with dogs and their limitations. If you do not allow them on the couch next to the baby or if you do. Whatever rules you have, very farm. Good luck.
